WE’RE FINALLY ABLE TO GET OUT INTO THE WILDERNESS AGAIN?
After two months in lockdown, and essentially missing out on Autumn, we’re so excited that we’re finally able to get out into the wilderness again and you better believe we’re going to make up for lost time. It’s times like these that we’re extra grateful to be based in Cape Town where Table Mountain National Park is just a short drive from almost anywhere in the city.
Table Mountain National Park is covered in trails and hikes, you just have to know where to look. Of course there are the popular routes to the top like Platteklip Gorge and India Venster (both start at the bottom next to the cable car), but there are also plenty that go to other parts of the mountain and the greater park that make for excellent outings. The Pipe Track runs along the mountain’s western face and makes for an easy hike with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. On the other side a hike to the Woodstock Caves takes you to a…cave, with excellent views of….Woodstock. There’s also Skeleton Gorge, Kasteelspoort and so many more.
In the coming weeks we’ll be taking on the different routes and we’d love you to join, either on foot or online via our Instagram channel @arcticfoxafrica. In the meantime, I Love Cape Town has a great little breakdown of five hikes to try on the Mother City’s famous mountain.
